On December 13th 2022, at the Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MOC) Affiliate Workshop, the Harvard Business School attributed the best MOC Team Project Award to the students of VUB, Johanna Dametz, Wouter Volkaert and Li Yan for their research on the Belgian Offshore Cluster Competitiveness under the guidance of Prof. Elvira Haezendonck and Dra. Laura Molinari.
This report is the output of a practitioner’s-oriented course MOC, building an intensive case-based learning path for our students “the Harvard way”. In 2017, and with the support of Mrs. Jacqueline Couder (IRMO VUB), the faculty of Social Sciences and Solvay Business School (VUB) became Harvard Business School affiliate. Since then, Prof. Elvira Haezendonck, Prof. Michael Dooms and their team developed a unique course set-up leading to research-based consulting analyses and competences of their students.
Among the 128 affiliate members worldwide of Michael Porter’s Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness, the VUB Team project was selected as the 2022 winner. This is a great achievement for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Solvay Business School, Prof. Haezendonck and Dra. Laura Molinari, and congratulations to MSc Johanna Dametz, Wouter Volkaert and Li Yan.
