Who is Jan Danckaert?
Jan Danckaert has been a professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Bioengineering Sciences since 2005. In May 2026, he was elected Rector of VUB by the university community for a second term. Over the next four years, he aims to further develop the university as a pioneering, socially engaged and internationally oriented university in the heart of Europe. He also intends to give greater priority to wellbeing, Health Valley, a stronger campus experience for students, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship, placing these themes higher on the university’s policy agenda.
