Practical information

Venue

The workshop will be held in Hotel Rosy's Little Village on the island of Agistri (near Athens).

Accommodation

If you want to stay in Rosy's Little Village (venue of the conference), then please consult their website. Rooms are simple but functional and the airco works well. The setting of this hotel is really nice. Prices are reasonable too. The hotel is however likely to be fully booked, but the hotel will propose you another room within 100 meters distance. These rooms will be nice as well (most of them have a great view in fact). In this case you take breakfast; lunches, and dinners in Rosy's little village.

Of course you are free to stay in another hotel of your choice. In this case, you only take lunches and dinners in Rosy's little village

The organization has made the necessary arrangements for all invited speakers.

Travel information

IN WHAT IS BELOW: NOTE THAT

- THE EARLIEST (FAST) BOAT ON SATURDAY 17/9 FROM AGISTRI TO PIRAEUS IS AT 9.50 AM. THIS BOAT ARRIVES IN PIRAEUS AT 10.50. BY TAKING A TAXI YOU WILL BE AT THE AIRPORT BY 11.45.

- IF NEEDED AN EARLY TAXIBUS FROM AGISTRI TO AEGINA CAN BE ORGANIZED, FROM WHERE ONE CAN TAKE A FERRY FROM AEGINA TO PIRAEUS (THE EARLIEST ONE ARRIVES IN PIRAEUS AT 10.25 AM, SO IT IS 25 MINUTES FASTER THAN THE EARLIEST FAST BOAT).

- IIT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO TAKE A TAXIBUS FROM AGISTRI TO PIRAEUS.

Airport

The closest airport is Athens (ATH). From the airport, there are reliable bus, metro and train connections to Pireaus port from which you can take a ferry to Agistri.

Bus (Best option to go the port of Piraeus)

You can catch the bus from the designated area at the arrivals level (between Exit 4 and Exit 5, very easy to find). The bus to take is the X96: Athens Airport-Piraeus. There is a bus leaving for Piraeus every twenty (during day) to forty minutes (during night) and it takes about 65-85 minutes to arrive in Piraeus (a taxi is about 20-30 minutes faster). You can find the schedule for the bus just outside from the baggage area of the airport. Tickets are available from the ticket kiosk at the bus departure area and cost 5.50€. You get off the bus when you see the port (with ferrries) on your left side. It is the 4th last stop called "NAT". In the case you miss this stop, the next stop is within 300 meters. The ferries to Agistri depart in front of the street Akti Posidonos (Gate E8) and note that on google maps the indications for the different ferry routes are not very precise. The ferries depart in time - if you are at the gate 10 minutes before departure you will still make it.

Metro/train

In the airport, after the customs follow the sign “trains”, you have two options, going by metro or going by direct train. Direct trains: https://tickets.trainose.gr/dromologia/, one train per hour (ticket= about 10 euros). You can also take the subway (ticket= about 10 euros) to go from Airport to Piraeus with one change at Monastiraki (first take M3 direction Agia Marina, change in Monastiraki after about 42 minutes and next take the M1 direction Piraeus until terminus (20 minutes)). There is a metro frequently. When you get out of the metro station, turn right and after 50 meters you are on the main street Akti Kalimasioti where you turn left until you reach the gate E8, from which the boat to Aegina-Agistri departs. It is about 500m. If you arrive by train, it is 300m further.

Ferry

There are several ferries per day that connect Piraeus with Agistri. The cost is approximately 17 euros. Tickets can be very easily purchased at the port (right in front of where the boat leaves) and there is no need to buy these beforehand. The trip by ferry takes about one and a half hour and is nice. You can also take a fast boat which takes one hour (cost is about 25 Euros).

The fast boat will bring you to Milos, 2.0 kilomers away from the hotel (it is a pleasant walk along the coast), and the ferry will bring you to Skala, only 300 meters away from the hotel. Here is a useful link where you can find the schedule for the connection piraeus-Agistri.

The ferries and fast boats to Agistri depart in front of the street Akti Posidonos (Gate E8) and note that on google maps the indications for the different ferry routes are not very precise. The ferries/boats depart in time - if you are at the gate 10 minutes before departure you will still make it.
