During the meeting, topics such as availability of student spaces (including on weekends), language courses, student housing, and campus and website information were treated while enjoying a friendly and informal, in-house meal on the side. Apart from receiving a very warm welcome, ISP student representatives appreciated the rector’s commitment to internationalising the VUB without, of course, forgetting about the integral role played by the amazing local student community.

The ISP particularly appreciated the support and understanding the rector showed on the topic regarding earlier graduation ceremonies. This is one of the main issues the ISP is currently focused on, as they pursue an equal chance for both local and international students on attending these ceremonies together. The ISP hopes that solutions for earlier graduation ceremonies might become a fact very soon, even during the current academic year.

The meeting represented a small but crucial step for the ongoing integration of VUB international students in the decision making process of the university.
