You are invited to the online event Difference Day!

Are you a VUB graduate who values press freedom? Do you think it is necessary that there is a possibility for free expression of creativity and quality? Then Difference Day is for you!

May 3 is International Press Freedom Day. Every year on this day, violations of press freedom are brought to the attention worldwide. It is a day to remember the great importance of journalistic freedom of the press and media as a foundation of our democratic system. Yet the VUB notices that the International Press Freedom Day does not get the attention in the Belgian media that an essential and fundamental human right like freedom of media and expression deserves. Moreover, for the VUB, freedom of journalism is equal to the diversity of people and beliefs. To draw extra attention to that day, the VUB is organizing the online event Difference Day on May 2 and 3, at the initiative of the rector Caroline Pauwels. And the VUB absolutely wants to involve you as a critical, inclusive thinker.

Difference Day consists of a very diverse program. In the evening a gala dinner will take place, where three awards will be handed out. One is at the world level, the second at the European level and the last at the Brussels level. At the same time, the event pays a lot of attention to young people. In the morning you can enjoy workshops and a living library. In the afternoon Difference Day offers films, an exhibition and debates on (press)freedom. So don't hesitate and attend the online event Difference Day!
