
Practical
The lecture will take place on Thursday 1 June, 15:00-17:00 in Auditorium QC on the VUB Main Campus, Pleinlaan 2 in 1050 Brussels. It will be followed by a panel discussion with Julie Bynens, secretary general of the Chancellery and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Flemish government, Koen Verlaeckt, secretary general of the VLIR (Flemish Interuniversity Council), and Professor Karin Vanderkerken, VUB Vice-Rector Internationalisation.
Moderator is Kim Hardie from the VUB International Relations office. Furthermore, threatened scientists will testify about the difficulties they experienced.
The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and will conclude with a reception.

The goal of Scholars at Risk is to provide a safe haven for at-risk scientists. To this end, the organisation works closely with more than 500 universities from over 40 countries. Every year, some 300 scientists receive protection.
