The wave of charity from Hamme for the VUB Yamina Krossa Fund began with a concert organized by Ginette Barrie earlier this year. She encouraged her son to also show his generosity. He was able to surpass her large donation by raising €10,000 through the Hamse Boarding tournament. And it didn’t stop there. Yamina Krossa also convinced Koen to support the fund. He ran more than 40 km for the cause, raising around €2,000.
Beat Cancer With Music raised €7,115
On February 8, a new edition of “Beat Cancer With Music” took place at CC Jan Tervaert. Ginette Barrie donated the proceeds of the concert to the fund. "I searched on Google for a cancer fund to which I could donate, and that’s how I came across the VUB Yamina Krossa Fund," says Ginette. "My brother was diagnosed with cancer at a young age. That hit me very hard. I transformed my feeling of helplessness into action so that I could feel useful in the fight against cancer. VUB’s cancer research is important because everyone, directly or indirectly, is affected by this disease. I truly believe that the therapy being developed at VUB can make a real difference!"

10.000 euro scored
The non-profit organization Hams Boarding Tournament presented a giant cheque of €10,000 after the eighth edition of its successful football weekend. During the tournament, the organization held a raffle with signed football shirts from Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland as the main prizes. "Everyone will, sooner or later, come into contact with this terrible disease. Since the Yamina Krossa Fund can truly make a difference in the fight against cancer, supporting it was a no-brainer," says Yannick De Maere from Hams Boarding Tournament.
