The teacher training programmes of the Erasmushogeschool (EhB) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) joined forces again this year to organise their annual meeting day, in collaboration with the Universitaire Associatie Brussel (UAB). Held at EhB Campus Kanal, the day brought together students from teacher training colleges, teachers and decision-makers from Brussels schools.
The meeting day was all about connection and inspiration and this year carried the hashtag #exploretogether, emphasising the importance of collaboration and giving everyone a voice. The event provided a platform where participants could exchange ideas and give education in Brussels a boost.
Two anniversaries were celebrated during this edition. First, the 10th anniversary of the Onderzoekende School, which promotes the research skills of both pupils and teachers. “We are proud of our expanded expertise with the partner schools for research at school and this year we are highlighting this by having school leaders present the results of the COLIBRU project,” said a spokesperson for MILO, VUB’s Multidisciplinary Institute for Teacher Training. In addition, the UAB is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The meeting day offered a varied programme. It included a panel discussion with school leaders p, the principal of emancipation in education, led by Jetske Strijbos.
Inspirational School competition winners
This year also saw the award ceremony of the second edition of the Inspiring School competition. Schools had the chance to win a professional development programme, consisting of active teaching packages with professional support to promote high-quality education. This was offered by partners the Democratic Dialogue, the Onderzoekende School and the STEM-Steunpunt. This year, the schools ZAVO and GO!4city received the award, presented by the president of the UAB, Helga Coppen. These two schools as well as the Athenaeum campus Unesco Koekelberg and GO! Secondary Lennik will receive another certificate for their inspiring work and contributions during the meeting day.
The event will take place again in June next year. Keep an eye on the EhB, VUB and UAB channels for details.
