VUB rector Caroline Pauwels tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The rector underwent the test on Wednesday and received the result last night. She goes into self-quarantine and passes on all her contacts meticulously. At the moment, all the people she came into physical contact with are being phoned.
Rector Pauwels says that, despite the positive test, she is feeling well and is currently showing only mild symptoms. “Although I myself have been very careful over the past few months, I have become infected as a high-risk patient. This is a dangerous virus and I can only stress that you cannot be too careful. Keep your distance, wash your hands regularly, wear a mouth mask and ventilate. That's the minimum minimorum you can do,” says Caroline Pauwels.
Below is Caroline Pauwels' personal announcement of her infection with Covid-19 and the steps the VUB will take to help it reduce the number of infections.
