FWO Odysseus
Are you a leading researcher working outside Belgium? The FWO Odysseus programme is a prestigious funding scheme of the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO), designed to attract top researchers currently working abroad to build a long-term academic career in Flanders. This programme offers substantial start-up funding and a professorial position, enabling outstanding scholars to establish their research line and develop an independent research group at a Flemish university. The Odysseus Programme has a bi-annual call that typically opens in April and closes in September.​
European Research Council
The European Research Council (ERC) provides funding for the implementation of ground-breaking research for a period of 5 (6) years. The ERC programme, provides a distinctive funding mechanism devoted to scientific excellence for all scientific fields (bottom-up call). Currently, Vrije Universiteit Brussel proudly hosts more than 20 ERC-projects and their Principal Investigators.
Innoviris Brains for Brussels
The Brains for Brussels program is a prestigious funding scheme from Innoviris.Brussels. It is designed to attract outstanding researchers currently working abroad or in the private sector who want to set up a new research line in Brussels. The proposed projects should be high-risk/high-gain and align with the strategic priorities of the Brussels-Capital Region. ​
