The Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO) offers competitive funding opportunities for postdoctoral researchers aiming to build an independent academic career at a Flemish university. The FWO postdoctoral fellowships provide 3 years of financial support and enable researchers to carry out their own project in close collaboration with a VUB host research group. FWO postdoc funding is open to Belgian as well as international candidates and includes two tracks based on career stage: Junior and Senior postdoctoral fellowships. In addition, FWO's prestigious Odysseus Programme (Type I and II) provides a unique opportunity for experienced postdocs working abroad to establish a long-term research line and build their own team at VUB.​

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) are prestigious European grants that support talented researchers looking to enhance their careerthrough international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral mobility. These fellowships allow postdocs to carry out a research project in Europe (or beyond) in collaborationwith a European host institution. Open to researchers of any nationality who hold a PhD and have no more than 8 years of research experience after their doctorate. ​
