Teach with Teach for Belgium and help fight against social inequality in the education system!

Are you someone with a strong university profile? Do you dream of a job as a teacher of mathematics, science or technology? Would you like to fight against inequality in the education system? Then Teach for Belgium is for you!

The socio-economic background of a student in Belgium today still has too great an impact on his or her school career. The gap between the high-achieving and low-achieving group due to their social background is still too big. The VUB wants to tackle that problem through the Teach for Belgium project, which deploys strong teachers in secondary schools. Working for Teach for Belgium means a big social impact and a very diverse job!

Teach for Belgium selects, trains and supports motivated people who want to have a positive impact on society. As a strong VUB graduate with a passion for mathematics, science or technology, you fit perfectly in this list! The project will train you over a period of 2 years to become a passionate and supportive teacher who will ensure that all students have access to quality education. The start of the program takes place in the summer. During that time, you can count on training weekends around teaching, leadership skills, student follow-up and a personal tutor to guide you in your journey. In addition, you will foster collaboration with all players in the education system. This is a major influence in moving the system in the positive direction. Moreover, as an alumnus of Teach for Belgium, you get the guarantee of 2 years job security. Reasons enough to sign up! Join the program and help fight educational inequality!

Are you a VUB graduate looking for an exciting and challenging internship? Do you find diversity, inclusiveness, and equality important values? Would you like to make a crucial contribution to equal opportunities in education for all? Then an internship at Teach for Belgium is something for you!

Teach for Belgium is a non-profit organisation that aims at giving all students equal opportunities to succeed, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Therefore, Teach for Belgium mobilizes, selects, forms, and supports committed people who want to work as teachers in the Belgian schools with the most socioeconomic vulnerable students. In collaboration with its network of alumni and education partners, the organisation collects and disseminates (thinking) frameworks, good practices, and concrete tools aimed at strong learning outcomes, positive relationships in education, and resilience of both pupils and teachers. In this way, everyone, regardless of origin or status, gets an equal chance at a quality education. And you can help with that through your internship!

As an intern, you will be part of the Partnerships & Advocacy Team. Together with eight dedicated and passionate colleagues you will spread and strengthen Teach for Belgium's vision and reinforce the organization's success. You do that by building and maintaining sustainable partnerships with the public and private stakeholders.

In concrete terms, this translates into a very varied range of tasks under the guidance of the Head of Partnerships. Your main tasks are:

  1. Contribution to the final partnerships of Teach for Belgium by:
    • Follow up on contractual and administrative aspects of partnerships (payments, registration, data system,…)
    • Supporting the budget planning and financial reporting for the partners, in collaboration with the team and the finance manager
    • Supporting the community fundraising
      • Setting up crowdfunding campaigns
      • Follow up on donations received
    • Supporting the fundraising events/opportunities
    • Contributing to ideas for new projects/partnerships
  2. Supporting the NEST (Novice Educators Support & Training) project by:
    • Monitoring mentors and mentees participating in the NEST project. In doing so, you develop a system to ensure:
      • Registrations of mentors
      • Follow-up of administrative requirements
      • Transfer of information to participants
    • Follow-up of financial and administrative aspects of the project
  3. Supporting other projects of the partnership team during your internship period

Does this sound like something for you? Do not hesitate and send a letter of application and your CV (maximum 3 pages) as soon as possible to klaartje.volders@teachformbelgium.be, stating "Internship Partnership team Teach for Belgium". The applications will be evaluated continuously.
