UNISTAR needs your help!

Are you a VUBer who would like to learn more about refugees? Do you think that by being provided with training opportunities, university staff would be better prepared to welcome refugee students? Do you want to help develop a blended learning, and European training programme? Then the UNISTAR project is for you!

UNISTAR stands for UNIversity STAff for Refugees and is an Erasmus+ strategic partnership project. VUB set up the project with Vilnius University (Lithuania), Alice Salomon Hogeschool (Germany), Universidad Alcala (Spain), Hogeschool Utrecht (Netherlands) and the UNHCR. Its objective is to support universities in providing education to student refugees. UNISTAR wants to offer an online course that trains university staff and guides them in their work with student refugees. Taking into account the specific psychosocial concerns and needs of the students, the project group is developing an online course for university staff across Europe.

Since the course is still in its early stages, it’s important for UNISTAR to first test it. And that’s where you come in! The test phase begins in March 2021. From that point, you can choose the modules in your field of interest and follow the trial course for four weeks. You can do everything at your own pace. Afterwards, you and 10 other university professionals will give your feedback on the course content and design, the time it took to complete the course and the platform itself. This will allow UNISTAR to improve the course and fine-tune it by the end of 2021. Then this version can be shared throughout Europe as we fight together for a high-quality educational offer. So don’t hesitate, register now!
