Building on the EUTOPIA Alliance ecosystem, the Young Leaders Academy aims at creating a network of high potential, early to mid-career researchers, coming from all EUTOPIA partner universities. Members of the Academy will constitute a community of promising independent research leaders at the scale of the alliance, sharing and promoting European values and the EUTOPIA vision of an interconnected academic environment. The EUTOPIA Young Leaders Academy offers two distinctive features: the two-fold objective of offering leadership training and promoting scientific exchange and collaboration; the promotion of the program at the scale of the EUTOPIA Alliance, rather than in a single university.

The EUTOPIA YLA Kick-off meeting will take place during the EUTOPIA Week organized by UPF in Barcelona. Four fellows are representing VUB in this programme, covering the main EUTOPIA key research areas: David Beckwée - Physical Education and Physical Therapy; Cleo Goyaerts – Medicine and Pharmacy; Birgit Van Puymbroeck – Arts and Philosophy; Jeroen Van Schependom – Medicine and Engineering. As EUTOPIA YLA Ambassadors the VUB fellows are academic leaders, ensuring greater visibility of VUB research landscape within EUTOPIA.
