Open marketplace for research, valorisation and training on resource recovery technologies



CAPTURE brings together universities/research centres; companies; public organisations and governments to realize a multidisciplinary and intersectoral approach in tackling the need and added value for material recovery and re-use with a dedicated focus on water, CO2 and plastics.

Currently CAPTURE has a portfolio of 4 core partners, of which the VUB that recently joined, over 30 companies, group of almost 60 researchers and public bodies actively contributing to the objectives and growth path of CAPTURE.

The VUB contributes its expertise in process intensification and separation technologies for a sustainable industry. The Department of Chemical Engineering develops innovative technologies for CO2 capture, recovery of renewable chemicals and purification of waste streams. The Institute for European Studies develops economic models to evaluate the feasibility and implementation barriers of those technologies, including roadmaps to realize the market introduction. Both VUB teams have merged their forces to pave the way to a sustainable society.

CAPTURE is a valuable gateway to offer the expertise to the companies. The collaboration of the VUB with and within CAPTURE allows VUB for a wide and international dissemination and participation in large EU funded projects. The synergy with the other CAPTURE partners will lead to innovative technological solutions for tackling the societal challenges in Europe.
