On Sunday 23 November 2025, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) will take part in the annual Brussels Science Festival at Muntpunt. Together with other Flemish higher education institutions in Brussels and the Flemish Government, the university brings science to the general public through a wide range of free activities. At the same time, VUB strengthens its societal impact by sharing knowledge beyond the walls of the campus.
Science and technology are changing the world and shaping a better future. It is therefore only fitting that all these fascinating research projects and impressive inventions are given the stage they deserve.
As an Urban Engaged University, VUB will showcase its groundbreaking research during Science Day, through a wide range of demonstrations, activities, walks, workshops, lectures, and screenings.
How about a scientific documentary on the last days of the dinosaurs, an interactive sign language workshop, or a creative session making glowing Christmas ornaments?

22:45 – The Day the Sunlight Stopped Shining (Professor Pim Kaskens)
A documentary that sheds new light on the end of the dinosaur era and the catastrophic consequences of the Chicxulub meteorite impact.
