Belgian Yamina Krossa was interviewed by Irish politician Frances Fitzgerald, member of the European Parliament and chair of the European organisation Transforming Breast Cancer Together, about her fight against breast cancer. After overcoming cancer, she became an advocate for the rights of breast cancer patients and started a fundraising campaign for VUB’s cancer research. Listen to her personal story in the video below.
Yamina succeeded in getting the Belgian healthcare system so far as to reimburse breast reconstructions with womens' own belly tissue. She also decided to launch a fundraising campaign in support of cancer research done by VUB scientist Damya Laoui. Yamina’s ultimate goal is to raise 400.000€.
