VUB Equality Network

A place for exchange, practical support and a platform for groups, organisations and other VUBers working on equality and inclusion, to connect and strengthen them. That’s the aim of the brand-new VUB Equality Network (VEN), to be launched by the VUB Equality Team on Thursday 26 November at an online event. The VEN aims to connect in a single network all VUBers (students and staff) and all groups who are working towards equality and inclusion at VUB.

Recognition, connection, reinforcement

The aim of VEN is to act as a megaphone for the problems and solutions that its members come up with, to connect and support them, and to co-create VUB’s equality policy. The network connects the various groups, but above all ensures that their important work is seen and heard at the university and has an influence on policy.

The network began to grow in response to the discussion about racism, when it became clear there was a need for more voices to have a say on VUB policy.

Launch with panel discussion on 26 November

The kick-off event of the VUB Equality Network is an online panel discussion with Iman Lechkar (on behalf of RHEA and the Fatima Mernissi chair), Olivier Tshinkobo (alumnus, participant in discussions about racism), Lena Imeraj (BIRMM, BCUS and Cosmopolis), Ange-Vanessa Nsanzineza (#WeDecolonizeVUB), Inas Djelloul (MixOmnia) and Chantelle Motsi (ASCOM). The moderator will be VUBer Nadia Naji.

Do you want to work on inclusion and equality at VUB? Or are you actively working on it? Register via the banner to be at the panel discussion on 26 November.
