Don’t giving flooding a chance, with the FloodCitiSense app!
Brussels often suffers from flooding and water damage. Do you want to help solve that problem? Do you have a smartphone? Then FloodCitiSense is for you!
Various major cities like Brussels are vulnerable to flooding in heavy rain, which can cause serious damage to the urban environment. It’s high time that something was done! VUB is taking responsibility and supporting the organisation HYDR in its new project. It has developed FloodCitiSense, an app that acts as a warning system for and with citizens and governments.
To enable the warning system to operate as effectively as possible, it needs detailed information about rainfall and where in the city this rainfall is potentially problematic. As a VUBer and therefore a Brussels citizen, you can make an important difference. Via the FloodCitiSense app, you can pass on your own observations about rainfall and flooding in the city. These details will be gathered so that HYDR can easily map where and when the flooding risk is. This early warning can eventually allow people to better prepare for urban flooding. The more data the app can collect, the more detailed and accurate that picture will be. Your input can help Brussels tackle its flooding problem. So don’t hesitate, download the FloodCitiSense app!
