This group training focuses on expressing emotions differently and/or better. With this training, we hope to support you in finding the right balance in emotions. This means being able to deal with emotions in a safe way so that they do not cause us so many problems in daily life.

The group therapy around emotion regulation consists of 5 consecutive 2-hour sessions. Between the meetings, homework assignments will be given to practice and try out the newly learned skills as much as possible. Besides psycho-education on what emotion regulation exactly entails, we will focus on learning and practising the basic competences underlying balanced emotion regulation.

The objectives of the group therapy are as follows:

  • to allow and accept emotional reactions better
  • to identify and label emotions more easily
  • to express emotions in a more adaptive way
  • to understand the relationship between emotions, cognition and behaviour, and the role of the environment
  • to manage emotional impulses and improve self-control (increase self-control and frustration tolerance, reduce impulsivity)
  • to deal more consciously with emotional input
