Caroline Gennez (47), president of the Universitaire Associatie Brussel (UAB), has just become Minister of Development Cooperation and Urban Policy in the federal government on behalf of Vooruit. The UAB links the Free University of Brussels and the Erasmus University College Brussels. Caroline Gennez has led the association since December 2013.
Caroline Gennez, in her own words, was totally surprised, but is going to join the Vooruit team in the government with great conviction. She is very happy with the Development Cooperation post because she finds international solidarity very important.
"There is a very strong coalition agreement. I will continue to work on this path. Solidarity is at the heart of our beliefs, at home and in the rest of the world," she told VRT.
"I myself helped negotiate the coalition agreement with Conner Rousseau and the entire Vooruit team in 2019, Meanwhile, we are already a few years down the line, but the foundation was partly laid by us. So one actually finds it logical that Conner ended up with me, even though I did not expect it," Caroline Gennez explained to radio station Business AM.
