On Monday 17 April, VUB professor Jonathan Holslag treated his students to a theatre monologue on diplomacy, war and peace. The performance 'Kelly' was followed by a debate with EU foreign affairs director Delphine Pronk and College of Europe rector Federica Mogherini.

VUB professor Jonathan, together with weKONEKT.brussels, organised the intensive performance 'Kelly' at the Royal Flemish Theatre (KVS). In 'Kelly', the young theatre-maker and actor Tim Natens stepped into the shoes of the maligned British weapons inspector David Kelly, who dared to question the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and died a few months later in unclear circumstances. All documents surrounding his death must remain under lock and key until 2073.

Eighteen years after his death, David Kelly entered the scene of the KVS. He looked back on his career, the last months of his life and his decision to stop being a pawn. Kelly was a monologue about honour and integrity, about a personal struggle in the light of world history.

The evening ended with a debate in which European foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini and Rector of Europe College Delphine Pronk also participated.
