Directions

The VUB Main Campus is located on the border of Ixelles, Etterbeek and Auderghem and can be reached on foot, by bicycle, by public transport and by car. An overview of the different options to reach the campus can be found on the access map and the directions below.

On foot

Use the campus map to find your way on foot on and around the Campus. Walking is ideal for the short distances between stations, stops and buildings.

By Bike

Brussels is developing a network of cycling routes, allowing cyclists to travel safely and comfortably. 

Use the Brussels route planner to find the fastest or safest cycling route in the city. For efficient commuting from Flanders, you can make use of the cycling highways.

The campus map provides an overview of bicycle parking facilities across the campus. The largest bicycle parking is located at Student Information (building D). There are several Villo! stations around the campus where you can rent a bike with a subscription or ticket and return it at any other Villo! station of your choice.

By metro, tram or bus

The campus is well served by metro, tram and bus lines operated by MIVB and De Lijn. An overview of the stops next to the campus can be found on the campus map.

By train

The campus is easily accessible by train, Etterbeek and Delta train stations are within walking distance. 
From Brussels-Central, you can take the train to Etterbeek station, take metro line 5 to Pétillon, or cycle approximately 5 km to the campus.

By car

Please take into account the access system, the parking regulations on our campuses, and the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in Brussels if you come by car.

Access and parking

The different parking zones are indicated on the campus map. A parking regulation with towing enforcement applies on campus. Please make sure to park your vehicle correctly. By using our roads and parking facilities, you formally agree that traffic regulations and campus parking rules apply.

Low Emission Zone (LEZ)

Please note: the campus is located within the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) of the Brussels-Capital Region (BCR).

  • Check here whether your vehicle is allowed to enter the LEZ.
  • If your vehicle does not meet the access criteria, you can purchase a day pass.
  • Vehicles registered abroad must register for the LEZ, with the exception of Dutch-registered vehicles.

By air

From Brussels Airport

Brussels Airport is located about 10km from the VUB Main Campus. There are 2 direct trains per hour from Brussels Airport railway station to Etterbeek station next to the VUB Main Campus. This train will take you in 25 minutes to the campus.

From Brussels South Charleroi Airport

Brussels South Charleroi Airport is located about 50km from Brussels. Shuttle bus connections are operated between the airport and Brussels-Midi railway station. From Brussels-Midi you can take the train to Etterbeek station next to the VUB Main Campus.
