Ask your questions to Jan Danckaert

How does candidate-rector Jan Danckaert plan to guide VUB through the budget cuts? What choices will he make to safeguard research and education as much as possible? How will he steer the university through the upcoming institutional review? And what is his vision for collaboration with UZ Brussel?

The Q&A sessions are the ideal opportunity to get acquainted with his policy plan, “VUB: a pioneering university in the heart of Europe” (PDF in Dutch), and to ask him questions directly.

Attend the session of your choice either in person or online. The working language is Dutch, but questions can of course also be asked in English. Do you already have a question? Submit it in advance to make sure it is addressed.

Rector candidate Jan Danckaert aims to lead the VUB over the next four years with a policy plan titled “VUB: a pioneering university in the heart of Europe.” According to him, the VUB has consistently played a pioneering role throughout its history. This is reflected in its groundbreaking research, innovative programmes and strong societal engagement. He intends to continue this ambition with full commitment.

Follow the VUB Rector Election 2026

The VUB is looking for a new Rector. Current Rector Jan Danckaert is the sole candidate to succeed himself. Staff members of the VUB and UZ Brussel, as well as students, can cast their vote electronically from 20 April to 4 May. This allows them to decide whether he will again receive the mandate to lead the VUB for four years starting from the 2026–2027 academic year. The results are expected on 5 May 2026.
