Dr Ronald Pennings was appointed guest professor at VUB’s Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the beginning of this month and joins the scientific research team of the UZ Brussel ENT Department.
He is an ENT specialist at the Radboudumc in Nijmegen. He specialises in hereditary forms of deafness, including Usher syndrome, and in pharmacological treatments of inner ear disorders. This expertise fits closely with the research line of the ENT team led by Prof Vedat Topsakal, which is committed to minimally invasive surgical approaches for the inner ear.
Together, they will join forces by engaging in scientific research on how to administer new drugs to the middle ear and cochlea for the treatment of hearing loss.
