Admission requirements

As a general rule, every study programme comes with its own set of conditions. You will find all the requirements for your chosen programme by clicking 'admission requirements' under the 'programme' tab.

Which degree is required?

If you don't have a Flemish degree you will need to submit an online application for permission to study. For bachelor's degrees in science, applied science and life sciences, we will evaluate your admission based on academic records and skills. To be accepted, you'll require the equivalent of at least an upper second-class honours degree (overall score of more than 70%) and will need to have written a bachelor’s dissertation (worth at least 6% of the degree credits).

Specialisations

  • Chemical Theory, (Bio-)Molecular Design and Synthesis: applicants are required to have a solid background in organic and quantum chemistry.
  • Analytical and Environmental Chemistry: a solid background in analytical/inorganic and organic chemistry is required. We also encourage applications if you have a background in environmental chemistry, geochemistry, environmental science and technology.

Will I need to sit an entrance exam?

You will not need to sit an entrance exam to begin the programme, but the programme may occasionally organize interviews as part of the selection process.

The tuition fees for the academic year 2026–2027 are subject to potential changes, in light of the budgetary proposals put forward by the Flemish Government; particularly with regard to the funding of internationalisation initiatives, international mobility, and the opening up of our education system to non-native speakers.
