Overview
VUB works in partnership with other Flemish universities in organising institutionally neutral positioning tests. A positioning test is an aid in the transition from secondary to academic education, and it can serve as a useful tool in selecting your Dutch study programme.
Which programmes?
Check the overview below to see which Dutch programmes require a positioning test and whether it is mandatory.
Mandatory participation
It is mandatory to take one of the positioning tests if you wish to enrol for the following (Dutch instructed) bachelor’s programmes:
- Bio-ingenieurswetenschappen
- Biomedische Wetenschappen
- Farmaceutische Wetenschappen
- Fysica en sterrenkunde
- Ingenieurswetenschappen
- Ingenieurswetenschappen: Architectuur
- Industriële Wetenschappen
- Wiskunde en Data Science
However, the results are not binding, so you can still start the programme regardless of your result. It suffices to take one of the positioning tests. For example, after taking the Fysica-test you can go on to enrol for Ingenieurswetenschappen.
Not mandatory but advised
Positioning tests for the following (Dutch) bachelor's programmes are not mandatory but highly advised, in order for you to make the best programme choice.
- Artificiële intelligentie (ijkingstoets informatica)
- Biologie
- Chemie
- Computerwetenschappen (ijkingstoets informatica)
- Geografie
- Handelsingenieur
- Revalidatiewetenschappen en Kinesitherapie
- Toegepaste Economische Wetenschappen
