VUB-PhD student biomedical sciences Jolien Hendrix is investigating the role of epigenetics in chronic widespread pain and ME/CFS, with the hope that her research will pave the way to personalized therapies. 

Worldwide, millions of people suffer from "invisible" diseases such as chronic widespread pain and chronic fatigue syndrome, which cause patients to feel sick for days or even weeks after a small effort, such as washing their hair.
