When can you re-enrol?
Depending on the type of re-enrolment, different deadlines apply.
Re-enrol for current programme
E.g.: From the 1st year Bachelor to the 2nd year Bachelor
After deliberations, depending on whether you finish after the 1st or 2nd exam session, you will receive an e-mail in July or September to ask you to complete your re-enrolment.

Continue with subsequent programme
E.g.: From the Bachelor in Psychology to the Master in Psychology
You can complete the re-enrolment yourself as soon as you receive your transcript of records and you have finished your (previous) programme.
Deadline
1st semester - 30 September
2nd semester - 15 February
Apply for new programme
E.g.: You want to stay at VUB but you want to change your study programme.
In this case you may submit a new application, for which the regular application deadlines apply.
Re-enrolling in a PhD programme?
After a positive evaluation of your progress report, you will automatically receive an e-mail inviting you to re-enrol. If you want to change your doctoral programme, you can contact your faculty to re-enrol in another programme. Please complete your re-enrolment before 15 November.
Cannot re-enrol themselves
Guest students
must fill out the request form each year to be allowed to re-enrol. As soon as the Student Administration approves your request, you will receive an e-mail to sign your study contract.
Credit or exam contract
Students with a credit or exam contract must do a new application each year, including the filled out form to be allowed to re-enrol. As soon as the faculty approves your request, you will receive an e-mail to sign your study contract.
Permanent training
As soon as your faculty allows you to re-enrol, you will receive an e-mail from Student Administration to sign your study contract.
Re-enrol within your current programme
Want to continue in your current programme? Then you can re-enrol. After deliberations you will automatically receive an e-mail from Student Administration inviting you to re-enrol.
- eg: from the second bachelor to the third bachelor (within the same bachelor programme)
- eg: from the first master to the second master (within the same master programme)
Proceed as follows:
- Go to the Student SelfService and log in with your VUB e-mail address and password.
- Click on the button 'Admissions and (Re-)enrollment'.
- In the menu on the left, select 'Re-enrollment'.
- Indicate the programme you wish to re-enrol in and click 'continue'.
! The programme you want to re-enrol in is not indicated in the list? Please contact your faculty to check why you can't re-enrol yet. - You can set your privacy preferences and then you will see the contract. Tick the box' 'schrijf mij in' (translated: enrol me) and click 'submit' once.
- You are now re-enrolled.
Continue with a subsequent programme
Want to continue your studies with a subsequent programme to one you have (just) finished? That's possible!
- eg: you finished the Psychology bachelor programme and want to continue with the subsequent master programme
- eg: you finished a preparatory programme and want to continue with the subsequent programme
- eg: you finished a master programme and want to continue with a subsequent advanced master or postgraduate programme
Proceed as follows:
- Go to the Student SelfService and log in with your VUB e-mail address and password.
- Click on the button 'Admissions and (Re-)enrolment'.
- In the menu on the left, select 'Continue'.
- Check the filter options (language & evening classes) and select what applies to you.
- Choose the programme you wish to enrol for. Is the desired programme not among the possibilities? Then you have to apply for a new programme (see below 'Enrol for a new programme').
- If you have to make a choice (for example a major) in the programme, you'll see the options now.
- Confirm your choice. You can now sign your online study contract there.
Apply for a new programme
Then you must apply as a new student (even if you already study/studied at VUB) within the regular application deadlines for new students.
You will receive a confirmation of submitting your application on screen. You will receive status updates for your application per e-mail in the next (working)days. If you're accepted, you'll be able to sign the online study contract there as well.

Switch to evening classes?
This is only possible for programmes also offered in the evenings/on weekends. First finish your re-enrolment and then fill out the form 'enrolment Working and studying' and send it to Student Administration.
