VUB alumna Elke Van den Brandt will inaugurate the crossing

In the context of LGTBQI+ month, or Pride month, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel has taken the initiative to transform a number of pedestrian crossings at its Etterbeek campus into rainbow paths. With this move, VUB is making a clear statement that the university, and Brussels in general, is a place where everyone is welcome, and love is an individual choice. In collaboration with the Brussels Capital Region, pedestrian crossings on Pleinlaan, Generaal Jacqueslaan and Triomflaan have been painted in rainbow colours.

The rainbow crossings have been strategically placed at the entrance point of the Main Campus. VUB wants to make clear to all passers-by that it is as inclusive as possible and it welcomes everyone on its campus. VUB is also taking part in the Brussels region’s sharethecolor campaign.

VUB rector ad interim Jan Danckaert will inaugurate the crossings in the presence of minister of mobility and VUB alumna Elke Van den Brandt and alderman Yves Rouyet.
