PILAR ASAP Your Current Mood edition runs from 3-31 March
PILAR ASAP is a six-monthly festival with a programme of storytelling. Attuned to the pulse of society, it fuses multiple artistic and scientific disciplines. This year it takes place from 3 to 31 March, at the PILAR cultural house on the VUB campus. The festival has a challenging, varied programme: from exhibitions, debates, workshops and concert evenings, to theatre, film, performance and in-depth talks. At its heart is the work of the young artists you really need to know about, including the special guest, Dutch writing talent Robin Goudsmit.
The festival opens on Thursday 3 March with The Haunted Youth, the anti-pop soundtrack for young people in uncertain times. Throughout the festival the exhibition Hello There, I Just Wanted To Ask How You’re Doing will feature young, up-and-coming artists.
The festival will also feature journalist Robin Goudsmit (1992), a reporter with Dutch newspaper Trouw. She studied philosophy and cultural analysis at the University of Amsterdam and Groningen and has worked for the weekly De Groene Amsterdammer, among other titles. Her interests include contemporary issues of identity, collective trauma and memorial culture. She will moderate a discussion during the festival on 14 March and will write a column on the theme of “your current mood”. We expect her to talk about trauma and how it is referred to in pop culture.
