Prof. Thierry VandenDriessche and Prof. Marinee K.L. Chuah are this year’s laureates of the international Henri Chaigneau Award of the French Hemophilia Society. They received this award for their contributions during their 25-year career.
Research
The research of our two professors focuses on gene therapy for haemophilia A and B and von Willebrand’s disease. It shows the way for curative treatment of these inherited disorders. It is particularly encouraging that some of the concepts that they pioneered have now successfully been applied in clinical trials in patients suffering from haemophilia.
The award
Other winners in previous years include Prof. dr. U. Hedner, Prof. dr. K. Mann, Prof. dr. T. Tuddenham and Prof. dr. A. Nurden, pioneers in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis. The international Henri Chaigneau Award of the French Hemophilia Society is one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of bleeding disorders, thrombosis & haemostasis. The award was formally presented by the President of the French Hemophilia Society, Thomas Sannié.
